One day, an engineering student commented to one of Mayor Tommy OsmeƱa's facebook post. She requested that the City Public Library be opened 24/7 so students can study there instead of at a burger chain. Mayor Tom immediately responded to give him a week. The Cebu City Public Library has been operating only on weekdays from 8 AM to 5 PM for almost 10 decades but on March 9th, 2018 the library was officially opened 24/7 and may not close again. It is the first public library in the Philippines that is open 24/7.

My roommates and I went to the Library last Sunday and I was really amazed that it was packed. We almost could not find a seat but the library staff assisted us. It was totally a relief to learn that many students still find a library really useful in this age of tablets, wifi and coffee shops.

Kodus to the Mayor and the Library staff, for opening the Library 24/7 and for keeping it organized. There is a water inside and you can bring your own coffee too. There is also a free wifi, so you can make your online  research while inside the library too. It may not be as huge as the our library from my university but it still a perfect place to study than a coffee shop or burger chain.

When we got home, I asked my roommate who is currently taking Chemistry Board Review Classes at the University of San Carlos if he enjoyed studying at the Cebu City Public Library. He had a huge smile while saying yes, the ambience is definitely a perfect place to study. Unlike at a coffee shop you don't get easily distracted at the library because everybody is studying too.

I highly recomend that the students in cebu visit the Library instead of going to coffee shops and spending hundreds just to study. The Cebu City Public Library is a great place to study and to read literature on paper.
